Emery 1869

This is the story of the Emery family in London, affected by smallpox vaccine in 1869. Their 4 month old son William died 5 weeks after vaccination. Despite this tragedy, the risks of vaccination were much smaller than the risks of smallpox, or the previous method of immunisation, variolation.
